MOODIST ADDICTION TREATMENT (MAT)
AN INTENSIVE, INTEGRATIVE, AND INDIVIDUALIZED PROGRAM FOR ADDICTION TREATMENT
INTENSIVE
Many individuals have limited time or patience and require faster, more focused treatment programs.
INTEGRATIVE
Psychotherapy, psychopharmacology, cognitive rehabilitation, and neuromodulation are used in combination.
INDIVIDUALIZED
Treatments are tailored and applied according to the specific needs of each person.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The foundation of the Moodist Addiction Treatment (MAT) program is built on the 3 I’s:
• Intensive
• Individualized
• Integrative
MAT is a fully structured 4-week program. Shortening the duration significantly reduces its effectiveness; therefore, a minimum of 4 weeks is strongly recommended.
INTENSIVE TREATMENT
Some individuals may lack the time or patience for long-term treatment. In such cases, a more intensive approach can lead to better outcomes. While the ideal scenario may not always be feasible, a well-structured and pragmatic program often leads to success. In the MAT program, psychosocial interventions commonly used in addiction treatment are delivered in a condensed and focused format. Detox is a key component of the program. Psychosocial support begins during detox and becomes more intensive after day 15.
INTEGRATIVE TREATMENT
We apply multiple approaches simultaneously. The MAT program combines psychosocial interventions, psychopharmacological treatments, and non-invasive neuromodulation techniques. Addiction is a complex, multidimensional issue that requires a multidisciplinary approach. Therefore, we incorporate different treatment strategies in a balanced and harmonious manner.
INDIVIDUALIZED TREATMENT
No single approach works for everyone. People have diverse needs. Research suggests that individuals with addiction can broadly be categorized into three groups:
Cognitive Group – those with mental challenges such as issues with attention, memory, or difficulty with impulse control.
Emotional Group – individuals who use substances to relax or cope with emotional distress.
Impulsive Group – those prone to impulsivity, sensation-seeking behavior, risk-taking, or conditions like ADHD.
Each group is provided with specific strategies tailored to their unique characteristics and needs.

COMPREHENSIVE ASSESSMENT
At the start of the MAT program, each individual undergoes a comprehensive psychological and cognitive evaluation.
Based on the findings, a personalized treatment plan and roadmap are developed.
RITA: Mental Health Risk Screening Inventory
The RITA (Mental Health Risk Screening Inventory) was developed by Moodist to scan for a broad range of psychological issues. It identifies the presence and severity of mental health conditions. RITA is a computerized tool, supported by validated research, and offers a thorough mental health screening across all domains.
Biochemical Testing
Regardless of the type of addiction, substance use can leave physical traces or cause damage in the body. Identifying these effects early on helps facilitate treatment. A set of biochemical tests is conducted to examine the impact of addiction on the body. The results are assessed by internal medicine specialists, and medical treatment is initiated if needed.
EEG
Addiction can cause changes in brain function, and conversely, underlying brain disorders may hinder a person’s ability to stop substance use. For this reason, all patients undergo an EEG, which is interpreted by a specialist neurologist to identify any potential brain-related concerns.
QEEG (Quantitative Electroencephalography)
QEEG is an advanced version of EEG that quantitatively analyzes the brain’s electrical activity. It transforms raw EEG data into numerical, statistically analyzed results, providing detailed information on brain wave patterns (alpha, beta, delta, theta) — their power, frequency, and distribution.
Advantages of QEEG:
Offers objective and measurable data, Provides a functional (rather than structural) assessment of brain activity, Helps guide non-pharmacological interventions such as neurofeedback, Enables longitudinal monitoring of treatment response over time
CNS Vital Signs
CNS Vital Signs is a scientifically validated, computer-based neurocognitive assessment tool designed to evaluate cognitive functioning. Widely used in clinical settings, it provides objective, repeatable, and efficient measurement across various cognitive domains.
CNS Vital Signs evaluates:
Memory – both verbal and visual, Psychomotor speed, Reaction time, Sustained attention, Processing speed, Cognitive flexibility
Working memory, Fine motor control, Executive functions
The tool is backed by high-validity and high-reliability research and uses normative data based on age and educational background.
EMG (for heavy alcohol use)
In individuals with heavy alcohol consumption, nerve cells may degenerate, leading to muscle weakness. Although initially asymptomatic, this condition can eventually result in paralysis. For this reason, EMG (Electromyography) is recommended to assess muscle strength and function in patients with a history of excessive alcohol use.

PATIENT CATEGORIZATION
Based on the results of these assessments, patients are classified into one of three main groups:
a) Cognitive
B) Emotional
C) Impulsive
PSYCHOTHERAPEUTIC INTERVENTION PROGRAM
The addiction intervention program is designed for all patients undergoing addiction treatment. The content of the program includes:
Addiction Psychotherapy Program
The addiction psychotherapy program consists of interactive psychoeducation, therapeutic discussions, and inventory-based self-assessment work. The following topics are covered within this framework:
Acceptance
My level of alcohol/substance use
The balance of benefits and harms
Looking to the future
Things I should and shouldn’t do
Readiness for change
My cycle of change
The impact of addiction on my life
How I started and how it progressed
What I need to change and strengthen in myself
My relapse periods
Risk situations and how I cope with them
My relationships with family members
My friends
Ways of coping with cravings
Recognizing thinking traps
Structuring my day
Life organization
Healthy living
Coping with pressure and persistence
Emotions, thoughts, and behaviors
Emergency situations and how I handle them
My conditioned patterns
Recovery skills: honesty, learning to endure emotional pain, taking small steps, focusing more on the present than the past or future, not rushing the recovery process
PSYCHOPHARMACOLOGICAL SUPPORT
Medication is prescribed based on each patient’s individual needs and under medical supervision.
The goals are: To reduce withdrawal symptoms, To prevent cravings
To treat co-occurring psychiatric conditions, if present
PHYSICAL REGULATION AND CONTROL
Sensory Awareness Walks; Feeling the senses clearly helps improve emotional regulation, which in turn supports addiction recovery.
Two walks are organized in nature and by the seaside after the 15th day of treatment.
Craving Management Walk; In the 3rd week of treatment, a guided walk will take place in areas where alcohol is typically consumed.
The aim is to practice craving control strategies in real-life settings.
Physical Activity; From the 2nd week onwards, patients engage in light exercises at the fitness center.
This is done 4 times in total during the program.
NUTRITION EDUCATION FOR MENTAL WELL-BEING
Two sessions with a dietitian are provided to educate patients on:
Foods that support the healing process, Reducing physical strain, Minimizing cravings
CULTURAL AND ARTISTIC DEVELOPMENT
Art therapy sessions are held 3 times per week
Cultural outings to a location of the patient’s choice are organized twice a week

A) SPECIALIZED INTERVENTIONS FOR THE COGNITIVE GROUP
Cognitive Rehabilitation
Cognitive rehabilitation is a structured treatment process designed to improve or compensate for mental functions such as attention, memory, problem-solving, planning, and impulse control that are impaired due to brain injury or cognitive dysfunction.
In addiction treatment, cognitive rehabilitation is considered an effective supportive approach. It specifically targets cognitive functions damaged by substance use (e.g., attention, memory, decision-making), aiming to restore or compensate for these deficits.
Executive functions—such as planning, inhibition, and cognitive flexibility—are often impaired in substance use disorders. Cognitive rehabilitation can improve these areas, supporting treatment adherence and relapse prevention.
Difficulties in attention and working memory are common after substance use. Structured interventions and cognitive exercises can enhance functioning in these domains.
Cognitive rehabilitation also promotes neural recovery by supporting brain plasticity.
tDCS (24 sessions)
Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) has shown promising results in addressing cognitive impairments related to addiction.
It is particularly effective in the following areas:
Improving decision-making processes. Strengthening working memory. Regulating reward expectation and motivation systems
B) SPECIALIZED INTERVENTIONS FOR THE EMOTIONAL GROUP
Neurofeedback is a biofeedback technique that enables individuals to observe their brainwave activity in real time and learn how to regulate it. The goal is to normalize dysregulated patterns of brain activity.
Neurofeedback (NFB) therapy can be beneficial in addressing the emotional issues commonly observed in individuals with addiction. Emotional difficulties such as anxiety, depression, mood swings, impulsivity, and low stress tolerance are frequently seen in addiction, and NFB has been shown to have positive effects in these areas.

╚══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝
Mindfulness
Mindfulness-based interventions have been found effective in treating emotional issues commonly seen alongside addiction. These interventions show particularly promising results in the following conditions:
Depression , Anxiety disorders, Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Mood dysregulation
Mindfulness training helps individuals become aware of their impulses, stress, and negative emotions. It reduces automatic reactions to substance use urges and strengthens emotional regulation, which can especially alleviate symptoms of depression and anxiety.

Mindfulness-based approaches are effective, low-risk, and holistic treatment tools for both addiction and co-occurring mental health issues, providing symptom reduction, relapse prevention, and increased emotional resilience. Their effectiveness is especially enhanced when used as a complement to traditional treatments.
Emotion Regulation Training
Emotion Regulation Training is considered a highly useful and effective component in addiction treatment. It plays a crucial role particularly in developing coping skills for substance use and preventing relapse. Emotion regulation difficulties are strongly associated with both substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions such as depression, PTSD, and borderline personality disorder.
Addiction is often a way of coping with negative emotions. People may use substances to manage stress, anger, loneliness, anxiety, and other unpleasant feelings. Therefore, recognizing these emotions and learning healthy coping strategies is fundamental to treatment.
Skills Developed Through Emotion Regulation Training include:
Identifying and naming emotions
Managing the intensity of emotions
Developing strategies to cope with negative emotions
Tolerating emotions without avoidance
Responding thoughtfully rather than reacting automatically
SPECIALIZED INTERVENTIONS FOR THE IMPULSIVE GROUP
Impulse Control Training
Impulse control training is a psychoeducational and skill-building process that helps individuals recognize, control, and manage impulsive behaviors—actions that are sudden and unplanned.
The goals of impulse control training are:
• To identify impulsive behaviors and recognize their triggers
• To learn to pause and reflect before acting
• To develop alternative coping strategies
• To enhance emotional awareness and regulation skills
Mindfulness Therapy
Mindfulness-based interventions have been found effective in the treatment of impulsivity. Impulsive behaviors are often automatic and unconscious reactions. Mindfulness helps individuals become aware of their responses and pause before reacting.
Mindfulness therapy enhances activity in the brain’s frontal regions (prefrontal cortex), thereby improving attention control and reducing impulsive behaviors.
Mindfulness is an evidence-based, side-effect-free, and easily applicable approach to reducing impulsivity. When practiced regularly, it strengthens an individual’s awareness, patience, and emotional-behavioral regulation.
tDCS (20 Sessions)
Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) is a promising method in the treatment of impulsivity. Research has shown that tDCS has the potential to improve impulse control. It can help reduce risky decision-making behaviors. These effects occur through the modulation of activity in the frontal cortex.

SUBSTANCE-SPECIFIC INTERVENTIONS
TMS for Cocaine Users
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) has been shown to reduce craving levels and relapse rates in individuals using cocaine. It has also been found to increase openness to non-pharmacological interventions. TMS helps regulate the dopamine system, particularly the mesolimbic pathway.
TMS for Methamphetamine Users
Studies have demonstrated increased long-term remission rates in individuals who receive TMS. Additionally, TMS has shown positive effects on symptoms of depression and anxiety, which are commonly seen in methamphetamine users.
Ketamine Infusion Therapy in Alcohol Use
Ketamine is not the first-line treatment during the acute detoxification phase (e.g., when withdrawal symptoms begin). However, after detox—especially when combined with psychotherapy—it can be effective in reducing relapse and managing cravings. Ketamine infusion therapy also helps alleviate anhedonia (loss of pleasure) often experienced by alcohol users during abstinence.
Detoxification with Suboxone in Opioid Users
Suboxone is a combination of buprenorphine and naloxone. It facilitates a smoother and more comfortable detoxification process for individuals with opioid dependence.
ADDITIONAL INTERVENTIONS
If bipolar disorder or psychosis is present, 8 sessions of Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) may be administered based on the physician’s decision.
POST-TREATMENT MONITORING (AFTERCARE)
• One follow-up session per week for 6 weeks
• Long-acting depot injections such as Nalmafene Consta or Vanoxerine Consta (to be repeated every 3 months)
• In case of craving, the patient may be called back to the hospital for an intensive 5-day TMS protocol

Moodist Hospital is a great place to bring any mental health patient. I would especially like to thank Muna, the translator, and Ali (international patient coordinator) for taking great care and making the process possible and comfortable. Their dedication and care made everything the best it could be, and I would certainly advise Dr. Siamek as a therapist. IF THE HOSPITAL REMOVES MY REVIEW AGAIN I WILL PRESS CHARGES AND REPORT TO HEALTH ADMINISTRATION The best hospital ever, i was diagnosed here with gender dysphoria and fears of drug addiction from my parents side, i was afraid at the beginning when i first came, i got used to the environment it took me 3 days to get used to it since they got me forcefully hospitalized here, i had the best pleasure meeting with my two translators (muna) and (güler) they were amazing since i speak two languages “Arabic and english” those translators OMG they were amazing they brightened my day with happiness and joy , its like the day when they’re here i feel the most comfortable and the whole hospital brightens with their happy positive energy I was signed to doctor yousuf and doctor siamek, these doctors are amazing they helped with my anxiety , adhd and depression , they were there for me the most , amazing doctors they made my life better than what i have ever expected it to be like, this hospital is amazing However i do wanna note that they have bad strict rules about sleeping at 11 and no phones allowed, idk why they do this it doesnt make any sense to me im a person that loves to sleep on music and most of the times i call my bestie and we open the camera and fall asleep together, however they dont really understand that part. I also made friends here and they were very nice but the nurses are strict about physical touch and hugs , i was trying as much as i can to be there for my friend here that i made and im that type of person that always asks for permission before physically touching another person , if were both okay with it why is it important for them !! For gods sake just be more flexible , the fifth floor is the least strict with the rules though they try as much as they can to make it so strict to the point where i started feeling cluster phobic from being here ! I only hate this part about the hospital ! However aside from that everything else was nice and easy , we decided me and my friend here ( the other patient ) to physically touching one another and dont care about their rules ! Sometimes when somebody gets depressed they just need a hug from a person that they feel safe around and a person that they trust ! THEIR RULES ARE SO STRICT AND ANNOYING from my perspective! But anyways, meds and checkups was nice and constant which is important , also they have a smoking room here which you can smoke freely . They also dont allow pictures of the floors because they believe in that this is a private property i believe patients should have the right of knowing what they will get before coming to this hospital 💜 Oh and they also have a game room upstairs which i couldnt take a photo of because people were sitting there . Oh and btw doctor taha is sooo amazing , we played multiple matches together, fifa ! It was amazing hes such a pro player and also a good listener , also eje is such an icon , eje , taha , muna , güler , are literally the most amazing people here i cant stop with how beautiful and cheerful they are i love them so much My translators are good listeners too ✨💋. Btw trust me the photos they shared are not like how the hospital looks like from the inside , they only showed the most amazing rooms , but my room is very normal , i will update this post after when i leave or get discharged but overall theyre showing the brightest side of the hospital on google maps like its a 5star hotel/rehab/hospital. But really the building from the inside is a 4star , not a 5star , they showed the place bigger than what it looks like from the inside , i believe that this is a business model theyre using to attract you more into coming here which therefore equals more gain and money , which im trying to expose here , thats not up to the workers but up to their business management, which is basically trying to make things more attractive for people to come , as a google maps reviewer and as of my testing this is how it feels and looks like from my own perspective The other floors are much more strict and bad smelling.

The details I experienced under Dr Seda’s care is unexplainable..her and her team of Ms Çağla & Ms Esin were always attentive with politeness and care. True these are my own experiences, but seeing from the waiting area they really don’t have a bias of who comes in or out of their TMS care. I pride myself on how I treat people but I can really say the same for this incredible team. Thankyou from the depths of my heart ❤️
